GO TO 2040

These videos are from GO TO 2040's "Bold Ideas" contest at Whitney Young High School.  WYHS is one of three schools selected for pilot contests to get kids thinking -- and acting -- creatively about the future.  (The others are Pulaski Middle School and Carpenter Elementary School.)  At WYHS, students submitted dozens of creative entries in categories such as illustrations, videos, original music, and performance.  The students were asked to imagine that the year is 2040.  What does the region look like?  Describe a trip to the supermarket -- or is there a supermarket?  What are schools and houses like?  Where do people work, and how do they get there?  Based on what we learn in these three pilots, we hope to replicate the results elsewhere across the region starting later in 2008.  For more details, please contact us.

GO TO Poll

Which of the following describes your attitude toward planning?

NEW in "The Idea Zone"

Let your voice be heard!  Take the GO TO 2040 survey.  Imagine that the year is 2040.  How do you get to work?  How is the education system different?  Where do you shop?  Is there more open space or less?  Where do you go for health care?  How have we addressed problems like poverty, climate change, and increasing energy costs?

Tell us how YOU want the region to look in 2040.   Take 10 minutes to complete the GO TO 2040 survey and help shape the region's plan for the next 30 years and beyond.

Imagine that by 2040 we have a transportation system second to none.  Imagine that we have a healthy natural environment.  Safe communities.  Abundant jobs.  What do you imagine when you go to 2040?
