To gather public input on the various scenarios that will help us complete the GO TO 2040 Regional Comprehensive Plan, CMAP conducted 57 Invent the Future workshops across the seven-county northeastern Illinois region. The workshops featured extensive hands-on use of interactive software, with participants choosing a preferred scenario as a group.

While only a small percentage of the region's nearly nine million residents could reasonably be expected to attend the workshops, CMAP wanted to give everyone an opportunity to participate in the process. We developed an abbreviated version of the questions asked by the interactive software and brought them to many of the area's summer fairs and festivals so larger numbers of people could be reached. At the fairs and festivals, we offered a quick explanation of the questions, and participants voted for the scenario they would like to see implemented.

Below is a list of the fairs and festivals we attended and the number of people who took part in the voting. CMAP is producing a report that will take an in-depth look at the results of all this summer's Invent the Future activities. The report will be posted on-line when it is approved by the CMAP Board.
