GO TO 2040 wants people across northeastern Illinois -- including decision makers in the public and private sectors -- to think like residents of the future. Our desire is for you to virtually "GO TO 2040" by becoming part of our planning process.

The tagline "Imagine that . . ." has more than one meaning.  The obvious one is "Wow, just imagine going to 2040."  So we could have chosen an exclamation mark:  Imagine That! 

But what the GO TO 2040 plan and campaign want is for residents across the region to help fill in the blank:  "Imagine that . . . by 2040 we have a transportation system second to none.  Imagine that we have a healthy natural environment.  Safe communities.  Abundant jobs.  What do you imagine when you GO TO 2040?

So this website is an open invitation for people to complete the phrase "Imagine that . . ." by participating in metropolitan Chicago's first truly comprehensive plan for land use and transportation. We want to know what residents value most about their communities and the region.  We also want to know what you'd like to see change by the year 2040 and beyond.
